Clearinghouse Fraud Alert: Fraudulent SAPs Entering False Clearinghouse Violations

January 27th, 2026

Scammers are convincing commercial drivers to share their commercial driver’s license (CDL) number, date of birth, and first and last names. This may be under the guise of a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) resolving open violations, or an Employer willing to report negative results for tests that don’t exist. Once the scammer has the driver’s CDL or commercial learner’s permit (CLP) information, they use the information to enter fraudulent drug and alcohol program violations on the driver’s record unless they receive additional payment. CDL and CLP holders should protect their personal identifiable information (PII) and only share personal information, like their CDL number and date of birth, for legitimate business purposes.
