Municipal Assistance Program (MAP)

Deadline: September 1, 2026

Main Street Matters

Deadline: August 31, 2026
Supports:

Good fit for boroughs, cities, and downtown business districts.

Local Share Account Statewide

Applications: Sept. 1 – Nov. 30
Supports projects that:
- Improve quality of life
- Benefit the public
- Include community facilities and infrastructure
One of Pennsylvania's most flexible municipal funding sources.

Alternative Fuel Incentive Grant (AFIG)

Deadline: October 7
Approximately $5 million available.
Municipalities may receive up to:
- $300,000 per project
- $500,000 total
Eligible uses:
- Electric or alternative fuel vehicles
- Charging/fueling stations
- Fleet conversions
- Demonstration projects

Community Policing Development Microgrants

Supports innovative policing projects including:
- Officer recruitment
- Drone programs
- Cybercrime
- Human trafficking investigations
- Community engagement
- Opioid enforcement

School Violence Prevention Program

Eligible applicants include units of local government working with schools.

Funds may support:

Security improvements
Surveillance
Access control
School safety technology
Violence prevention initiatives

Emergency Solutions Grant

Useful for municipalities addressing homelessness.

Funds may be used for:

Emergency shelters
Rapid rehousing
Homeless prevention
Street outreach
HMIS administration

Regional Policing Assistance Program

Supports municipalities that:

Create new regional police departments
Expand existing regional departments
Improve intergovernmental cooperation
Reduce long-term policing costs

NEVI Community Charging Program

Approximately $34 million is available for EV charging infrastructure in:

Bucks
Chester
Delaware
Montgomery
Philadelphia counties

Highlands Conservation Act

Supports municipal acquisition of conservation lands in Pennsylvania's Highlands Region with up to 50% federal cost share.

Statewide Water Access Grant

Provides grants of up to $30,000 for:

Kayak launches
Canoe launches
River access improvements
Waterfront rehabilitation

Requires a 1:1 match.

Other Grants for Local Governments

FIELDS Program – Local governments are eligible applicants for fertilizer production projects.
RISE PA – Industrial decarbonization projects may involve municipal utilities or public authorities.
Continuum of Care (CoC) – Local governments can participate in homelessness initiatives.
Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program – Community-wide youth homelessness response systems.
First Chance Trust Fund – School districts and community partners serving at-risk youth.
